- Ich liege auf (das Sofa) .[I’m lying on the sofa.]|neuter noun → das becomes dem
- Die Freunde sitzen auf (die Terrasse) .[The friends sit on the terrace.]|feminine noun → die becomes der
- Was machst du zwischen (die Feiertage) ?[What are you doing between the holidays?]|plural → die becomes den; because the noun doesn’t end with n or s in the plural, we add an n.
