Golden Wedding Anniversary
Today is my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary—their golden wedding anniversary.
We’re throwing a surprise party for them tonight. They think we’re just going out for dinner together. But in reality, we’ve rented a party hall and invited all their friends and relatives.
I’ve told my grandparents that we’re going to quite a fancy restaurant. That’s why they should dress up nicely. My grandma is wearing a long pink dress and her most beautiful jewellery: a necklace, a bracelet and a pair of sparkly diamond earrings.
My grandad is wearing an elegant grey suit with a waistcoat and a jacket. The colour of his tie matches my grandma’s dress, which is very cute! Unfortunately, he forgot to iron his shirt, so it’s a bit creased. And a button is missing from his waistcoat. But I’m sure no one will notice.
Of course, they’re both wearing their wedding rings, as they’ve done every day for the last fifty years.
Each family member has taken on a specific task for the party: My cousin Mia baked the cake, my uncle Alexander was responsible for the hall decorations and I took care of the present, although I would actually rather be putting on the music.
The whole family put money together to give my grandparents a really nice present. We organised a weekend trip to Hamburg where they will see a musical and go on a harbour tour.
I can’t wait to see their faces when they enter the hall later and everybody shouts “Surprise!”.
