Endlich geht es in den Urlaub! Den hat sich Frau Krause auch wirklich verdient. Sie arbeitet für eine große Bank und muss auch schon mal bis spät in die Nacht arbeiten. Jetzt hat sie eine Woche ganz für sich und will in die Karibik fliegen. Sie kommt rechtzeitig am Check-In-Schalter an, zeigt ihren Pass vor und gibt ihre beiden Koffer auf.

Währenddessen herrscht auf dem Flughafen reger Betrieb. Ein Pilot und eine Stewardess eilen an Frau Krause vorbei. Durch eine Scheibe kann man bereits den Tower und ein Flugzeug erkennen, das auf der Landebahn steht. Durch ein anderes Fenster sieht man ein Gepäckband mit großen Koffern und Rucksäcken.

Frau Krause erhält ihre Bordkarte und bedankt sich. Sie fliegt heute von Gate A (vom Flugsteig A) ab. Jetzt kann sie endlich in den Duty-free-Bereich. Shopping ist ihre Leidenschaft und sie hofft, dass sie auf ihrer Rückreise keinen Zoll bezahlen muss.

Zu diesem Zeitpunkt weiß Frau Krause aber noch nicht, dass die Fluglotsen angefangen haben zu streiken. Die Startbahn wird für den Rest des Tages leer bleiben.

At the Airport

Finally it’s time to go on holiday! Mrs Krause has really earned it. She works for a large bank and sometimes has to work late into the night. Now she has an entire week to herself and wants to fly to the Caribbean. She arrives on time at the check-in counter, presents her passport and hands over her two suitcases.

Meanwhile, the airport is very busy. A pilot and a flight attendant hurry past Mrs Krause. One window looks out onto the control tower and a plane waiting on the runway. Through another window, you can see a baggage conveyor belt with big suitcases and backpacks on it.

Mrs Krause receives her boarding pass and says thank you. She’ll be flying out of Gate A today. Now she can enter the duty-free zone. Shopping is her passion and she hopes she won’t have to pay customs on her return voyage.

At this point, Mrs Krause does not yet know that the air traffic controllers have begun to strike. The runway will be empty for the rest of the day.
