## Cardinal Numbers

The cardinal numbers are the basic numbers. We use them to indicate how many of something there is.

- Example:
- 1 – eins
- 2 – zwei
- 3 – drei

## Ordinal Numbers

The ordinal numbers are mostly used to indicate what order things come in.

- Example:
- das erste Kind
- die zweite Etage
- der dritte Versuch

## Fractions

We use fractions to describe partial quantities. They are not only found in mathematics, but also in recipes, for example.

- Example:
- ½ Liter Milch
- ¾ kg Mehl

## Time

There are several different ways to tell the time in German.

- Example:
- 7:15 → sieben Uhr fünfzehn
- → Viertel nach sieben
- → viertel acht

## Date

Here we explain how to write and say the date in German. The ordinal numbers are especially important for this.
