Summer Holidays by the Sea
Many German families like to spend their summer holidays in warm countries. My family usually goes to Spain, Italy or Turkey, where the sun always shines. We often spend the whole day at the beach there. We play with the beach ball and build sandcastles. I also look after my little sister sometimes. She can’t swim yet, so she has to wear a swim ring. After swimming, we put on sunscreen so that we don't get sunburned. My brother always takes it a bit too far, though!
Once, my parents had planned something special — a picnic at the beach. In the afternoon, mum took out the picnic hamper. Then she put on her sunglasses and went to buy some ice cream. Meanwhile, I relaxed on the sun lounger. Dad was sleeping in a hammock between two palm trees, my sister was playing on the beach and my brother was messing about again. None of us noticed that a dog was sneaking towards our food. Fortunately, mum came back just in time and saw the dog. To protect our picnic, she ran shouting towards the dog. Unfortunately, she stumbled over a bucket and one ice cream flew out of her hand. It soared through the air and landed directly on my head. What a mess!
Well, I had to do without my ice cream, but at least we saved our picnic.
