Carnival

When it’s Carnival season, there are parades in many areas of Germany. The streets are brightly decorated and many people wear costumes.

Your birthday is the day you were born. In many countries, people celebrate this day together with friends, and they receive flowers and gifts.

Even in Germany nowadays, you’ll see a lot of children in costumes on the 31st of October. They go from door to door and are given sweets.

There are many Christmas traditions in German-speaking lands, such as the Christmas tree and the Advent calendar, for example.
